An idea that arose 22 years ago is being developed successfully in Parque Tec.

Luis Ulloa is a hard-working person who loves what he’s doing; a proof of this are the 22 years he dedicated to the outsourcing of software products.

Until two and a half years ago, SQL Consultores was a company owned entirely by Luis. When he heard about Parque Tec, he decided to join this new project for entrepreneurs wishing to create their own companies with the assistance of the incubator.

Initially, this decision seemed confusing, since Luis already had a certain market-position and he was also working as an independent consultant; but, definitely, a visionary person recognizes an opportunity when it presents to him.

The moment Luis presented his proposal to Parque Tec, and given the advanced logistical stage of the project, the incubator’s executive board accepted his project and started to work with him within the stage of business acceleration. This meant that Luis’ project started with the process in which the incubator provides the tools for the expansion of the SQL Consultores’ market-share.

Administrative Solutions

The consultancy work of SQL Consultores encompasses the assistance to companies for solving their problems in the area of informatics, professional IT services, and outsourcing in programming for companies and other Costa Rican software enterprises.

SQL Consultores’ personnel are used to take on the specific demands of their clients and to make evaluations of the different areas of interest: organizational structure, internal procedures, and information and security systems. Based on these evaluations, SQL Consultores present a comprehensive proposal, expressing the solutions to the different shortcomings detected. Furthermore, they develop custom-made software products, according to the specific demands of their clients.

For two and a half years SQL Consultores is part of the Parque Tec family and the longer this relation is maintained, the clearer it becomes that it was the right decision to join the incubator. Luis comments, “The organization has given us more stability, logistic support, and coaching and training. Additionally, this relation allowed us to be in a commercial showcase that opened its doors to new businesses.”

Presently the company has five full-time employees and in many cases has to sub-contract other personnel to satisfy the clients’ necessities. Luis Ulloa tells that the company has “worked with other entrepreneurs from Parque Tec in joint projects. The experience has been satisfactory.”

The future perspectives rely in the development of new products and systems to access different markets. “We wish to generate more outsourcing and presently we are in a process of migrating the tool to a .net platform and expanding to the call-center market,” concludes Luis.
